About the Apple Developer Program

About the Apple Developer Program

The Apple Developer Program is Apple's official membership program for software developers who want to create and distribute apps on Apple platforms like iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

By enrolling in the Apple Developer Program, you'll be able to publish the iOS apps you develop.

In addition, advanced features such as the following are available only to Apple Developer Program members:

  • Apple Pay
  • GameKit
  • iCloud / CloudKit
  • In-App Purchase
  • Push Notifications

You'll also gain access to developer tools such as App Store Connect and the CloudKit Dashboard.

Other benefits include the ability to install beta versions of iOS and use Safari extensions.

The annual fee for the Apple Developer Program is $99. The price hasn't changed for a long time, but please double-check when registering.

Features Explained on This Site

If you just want to study the basics of iOS development, you don't need to register for the Apple Developer Program.

In the past this wasn't possible, but now you can test your apps on actual devices such as iPhones without enrolling in the Apple Developer Program.

Without Apple Developer Program registration, there are some limitations on the number of apps you can install on devices at the same time.

On this site, we'll also cover development that makes use of features only available through the Apple Developer Program.

You can start learning iOS development first, but if you want to study it seriously, we recommend enrolling in the Apple Developer Program.
